About Gillett & Coles Family Tree
Welcome to the latest version of the Gillett/Coles family tree.

The data is NOT maintained here, it's maintained in a separate software package on our PC and then uploaded to this site. So you will not be able to make any changes via this website. Please let us know of any errors/additions/changes - we'll then amend the source data and periodically reload it to here.

We suggest you start by clicking "View" on the tabs above and then "Tree" to start navigating the family tree.

The tree available here shows data from both the Coles and Gillett families. You can simply navigate to the sub-tree that you want to see by clicking on the "tree" option under a name from the required family.

PLEASE NOTE: when you display a family tree based on a nominated person, the display only shows 2 generations of descendants and 2 generations of ancestors. To navigate further, simply select "tree" on a person at the edge of the display to open up a further set of ancestors and descendants based around that person. In this manner, you'll be able to navigate the entire tree.

("Tribal Pages" appears to be a suitable website to provide easy access to our family tree. To date we've found that so-called "free" family tree websites have various restrictions that limit their usefulness, in an attempt to force you into chargeable, often expensive, upgrades. This is the main reason why we use a separate off-line package to build/maintain our tree. Although Tribal Pages is not immune from such practices, its base options seem better than most and additional charges, should they become necessary, more reasonable. It appears to be one of the better options.)

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
